Okay, most years the Ambucs Restaurant Rally takes place in May. Of course, the past year and a half have been unique to say the least. So, the Ambucs adapted. The Ambucs Restaurant Rally takes place on Sunday and you can buy tickets at Flocco’s or through the Eventbrite link: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/2021-conshohocken-restaurant-rally-presented-by-conshohocken-ambucs-tickets-165428363689
The Ambucs Restaurant Rally can not exist without the generous restaurant community. The participating restaurants all donate their food, time, space and staff for the event that raises money for the Ambucs who in turn support local events as well as Montgomery County Special Olympics.
If you gather some friends, or go solo, here is a sampling of what you will experience as you wander our community. Start your day at the Great American Pub for sign ins, snack on some food while chatting with other restaurant rally goers. Maybe when you leave the Pub you wander down to the Boathouse for smoked chicken sliders or you hit up Insomnia cookies. From there a treat from Poke Ono. Southern Cross is right around the corner with their special Mac and cheese. Next up, Viggiano’s… gnocchi, meatballs and shhh (don’t tell my wife ….tiramisu) Now, you don’t have to start walking down Fayette Street, maybe you want to end your day at 1st and Fayette.. so maybe you walk to Tony and Joe’s for a slice of pizza and a fountain soda. From there wander up to Deli on 4th for cheesesteak egg rolls and try a Yard’s beer and don’t forget the Shack in the Back for a fresh squeezed organic Orange Juice plain or with a little shot of poor man’s Grand Mariner…. You could walk to Izenberg’s where they are showing off Conshy Steaks and Hoagies mini cheesesteaks and mini stuffed chicken tenders. Have you ever heard of Baked in Conshy? Well, it is the pastry and cake division of Izenberg’s and they will have cupcakes on hand. Still on Fayette Street, a block up or so is Brunch-Conshy for churro French toast and mimosa’s made with fresh squeezed oj. Do you go off Fayette Street to Jasper’s or head up Fayette Street to Ashley’s, can you go wrong? I don’t think so. Ashley’s will be serving Italian Roast pork sandwich and wash it down with a Coors Light or hit up Jaspers for pork sliders with a trio of martini specials. Have you explored the East side of Conshy yet.. how about gluten free veggie lasagna with risotto and grilled veggies with bruscetta on Conshohocken Italian Bakery bread with a selection of wines at Trattoria Totaro. Coyote Crossing is offering Flatulas, nacho grande, taco carnitas along with chips, salsa and guacamole. Pepperoncini has penne bologonese with wine specials, Chang Mai (award winning from years past) will have their Thai tasting menu with pork dumplings, crispy golden tofu salad, friend bananas, pad Thai noodles, Drunken noodles and more including Thai ice tea. We saved the best for last… Edward Freemans will have a tasting of their nuts, peanut butter spreads and candies. If you have space…. Conshohocken Candy Company will have three flavors of water ice to try.
So, that’s the skinny on the Ambucs Restaurant Rally. It really is a wonderful event. Hope to see you there.
Let’s talk Restaurant Week, so many of the community restaurants participate in this week. Best bet, look up a couple restaurants on Facebook or on their own websites and see what strikes you. This is also a great time to venture out of your comfort zone. Many of the places offer a prix fixed menu with some specialties and most of them continue to offer their full menu as well.
This is a great week to call some friends, set up a dinner or a walk through Conshohocken at either a single restaurant as part of restaurant week, or take part in the restaurant rally on Sunday.
If you need a gym on Monday, we know a few local places as well……
Thank you to all of the restaurants taking part in the Restaurant Rally by the Ambucs or creating a special menu for Conshohocken Restaurant Week.
