We have close to 10,000 people in our borough, add in the residents of West Conshohocken, Plymouth, Whitemarsh and Lafayette Hill and we have a large community. Some of the people that will be featured will be well known in the area, some will have just moved into the area, some will have been here their entire lives. Some of them may be business owners, or people who walk around the area, or maybe work in the area. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Everyone has a story. While we are only going to take their picture and maybe ask a question or two, we want to share these stories with you.

For the past few months a gentleman has stopped in our shop and left a flyer for us to post in our shop. Today, we got talking a bit and I thought…. you know… I should do a People of Conshohocken with him. So here is a few questions with J.B Hillman.
J.B and his wife Carol have been living here for a little over 3 years. As they walked around Conshohocken they were paying attention to the green spaces. In October they started Green Conshy Collaborative. (I was confused at first as the flyers started showing up at my shop, I have since learned, the old Green Conshy is still operating as EAC)
I asked J.B and Carol what drew them to Conshohocken and they were both quick to point out the community. The walkability that we have as a borough.
When I brought up eateries and restaurants, Carol laughed and said… no way. I can’t pick a favorite place to eat. Every place we have been to over the past few years has been incredible. J.B offered up Pepperoncini, but only since he was being forced to only pick one place.
When we got back to chatting about Green Conshy Collaborative, J.B mentioned one of the goals was to bring people together and discuss what the average resident (owners and renters) can do to keep green space and use it in new ways.
So far their monthly meetings have had starting points of Composting, Impacts on the water shed and more. Tonight they will be discussing Solar Energy. They meet at the Great American Pub. The meeting starts at 7, the next meeting will be March 10th and will focus on Homegrown National Park.
As the conversation about general Conshohocken stuff went on, I asked about the group I knew as Green Conshy. J.B was thrilled to tell me had recently had lunch with Dom and Rich from the E.A.C and they look forward to working together.
J.B and Carol, thanks for stopping in today. Glad we could chat about all things Conshohocken.
