Colonial Youth Sports Leagues Team Up to Help our Community

If you know us here at Conshystuff.com, you know we have been holding a food drive every year for… I’m not even sure how long at this point. Regardless, this year we are facing some unique challenges. We here at Conshystuff were meeting with the folks at the Colonial Neighborhood Council to see what we can do a little differently this year. That is when an amazing human being reached out with an idea of getting the youth sports leagues in the school district together to help. Susan Robinson who has wore many hats for Plymouth Little League over the years thought, lets turn some rivals into teammates and fight hunger in our community.
Many of the baseball and softball leagues in the school district have reached out to their families and that was followed up by the PW Spartans reaching out to their players and cheerleading families. Susan and I are trying to coordinate with the basketball leagues, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, field hockey clubs and so on. If you are reading this and are on a board for one of the local organizations, reach out and we’ll let you know how you can help.
This is what Plymouth Little League shared on their social media pages:
Looking for an easy way to help our community? We are launching a grocery store gift card drive!
Several Colonial youth sports organizations are joining forces to help our community. The Colonial Neighborhood Council is a nonprofit that works to serve those in need in the Colonial School District. One aspect of their work is to serve as a local food pantry. Over the next few months, CNC is expecting an uptick in food needs for struggling families in our community. They would like to be prepared to respond and are in need of gift cards to local grocery stores.
Youth sports have an incredible power to shape young people but they also have the ability to tie communities together and lift up those in need. We are asking those that are able to consider purchasing gift cards to local stores such as Giant, Acme, Weiss, or Aldi’s and dropping them off at one of the 5 local businesses listed below that have agreed to be collection sites. Gift cards of $25 are appreciated. (Please note the quantity directly on the card or attach a receipt.) If you would prefer to contribute money via Venmo to our league account, the league will convert all funds received to Acme gift cards. All gift cards will be donated directly to the Colonial Neighborhood Council.
