You know how time stops for a minute when you get bad news, that moment happened to me when an old friend of our family passed away this weekend. Vinnie had been battling stomach cancer and while everyone was holding out hope… sadly news spread of his passing. If you knew Vinnie, it was most likely on an athletic field. You may have been his teammate, your kids may have been playing for him as he coached one of the many teams he was involved with over the years. No matter how you knew him, he was your friend, he always had that smile, sharp sense of humor… I’ve read some of his old teammates tributes to him on Facebook, and like many of you, I’m having a hard time putting the words together. I was a few years older than him, his brother Ronnie and me played a few sports together over the years, Vinnie was always the fast kid running down the sideline trying to keep up with his brother as Ronnie broke a long TD run, or he was the kid (as far back as t-ball) that you knew was a gifted athlete. As an adult, he helped coach kids at a number of levels.

This past November something special happened.. there was a homerun derby held to help Vinnie out with his medical bills. The community showed Vinnie and his family so much love. I would like to think everyone involved, if they helped plan it, if you participated, or if you simply donated online somewhere or bought a Conshy Strong VK shirt….. I would like to think you’ll remember that and I know Vinnie and his family were very thankful.

To his family, his friends, his players, his teammates, I’m sorry.

Obituary

Vincent J. Keaser – Benodeano passed away on October 8, 2021 at the age of 43. He was the son of Ronald, Sr. and Judy (nee Gill) Benodeano. Brother of Ronnie Keaser, Jr. (Sharon), Tina Short (Ed), and Lori Chud. Uncle of Jake, Sophia, Madeline, and Deacon. He will be missed by many family, friends, fellow coaches, and baseball players.

Vinnie worked with many kids as a baseball coach. He helped develop young athletes as a mentor and coach for Whitemarsh Little League, SCH Academy, and Athlete Academy Canes.

Relatives and friends are invited to Call on Friday, October 15, 2021, 10 AM, followed by a Funeral Service, 1 PM, at the Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave. Interment is Private.

In lieu of flowers, Vinnie’s family is asking for donations in his memory to any of the following organizations:
