There’s a Pearl Jam song I sing to my kids titled Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town. At some point in the song Eddie Vedder and my horrible imitation of him sings…. I just wanna scream, HELLO…. right now I want to scream Hello to all of you reading this. Maybe you read everything we do, maybe one article six years ago and now this one… whatever it is, we thank you.
This is just a random collection off thoughts, ideas and so on….
Did you know West Conshohocken is celebrating 150 years of being a borough? We think it is awesome and the folks in West Conshohocken are planning some events. We will do our best to pass along all the details to you.
This February 24th is the Conshohocken Adult Prom. This year the title/theme is The Fayette Gala (Philly Style) This event costs $100 per ticket. For your ticket price the night includes DJ Jammin J, an incredible live band The Zings, a photo booth, a 360 video booth, drinks, dancing, food and a great night. Your ticket also includes a donation to 3 local charities. The Conshohocken Free Library, The Colonial Neighborhood Council and the Colonial Education Foundation.
I have to mention this… If you go to the prom, or buy a Christmas Tree from the Library, buy food or make a donation to the Conshystuff Food Drive, make an online donation to the Colonial Education Foundation here is what you are doing…. The Conshy Library just needed a new roof, your Christmas tree helped that! Your Prom ticket helped that happen! Right now it is like 20 degrees out, there are families in our community right now wondering if they can heat their home and feed their family. Your donation to the Conshystuff Food Drive helps them do both. By helping provide food these folks (our neighbors) can focus on heating their house. If you are unaware of the Colonial Education Foundation, this group helps with the school district. In some cases your donation helps erase a students debt if they are coming up short at lunch. I thank you! We have a great community here is is always looking out for each other. Thank you.
Have you heard of the local group Discover Conshohocken? They hosted a few events around Conshohocken this past year and are looking to have some of the same ones in 2024 and are creating a couple new events as well. Coming back for sure in 2024 are the events Spring into Conshy and Fall into Conshy. Look for the group on Facebook and Instagram. More events are being planned.
How about the Farmers market and Winter market in 2023 hosted by More Than The Curve? I hope you got the chance to go to at least one Saturday Farmers market or visited the winter market. These were both great additions to this community over the past year.
Have you been to Conshy Night at the Reading Phillies? This year it will be on Sunday July 14th. We at Conshystuff are proud to be a sponsor along with Coll’s Custom Framing, JP Hussey and his mortgage company, in the past the Boathouse and Great American Pub have both been sponsors as well as the Mayor and his group.
Shout out to the borough by the way for making Fayette Street look extra beautiful this year with the garland on the light posts.
Since I’m writing this and I’m kind of hungry… burger week is coming up at Stone Rose, it doesn’t disappoint!!!!! Make your plans to get there with some friends.
Saint Patrick’s parade is one of our most asked questions, this year it will be on March 16th. Always a great event!
A question we get asked often with no real answer is… what is up with WAWA and the Moore Chevy Property, we don’t have an answer. Another question we get asked is….do you know any Girl Scouts selling cookies? That answer is yes, we know a few, reach out and we’ll try to help you get your cookies from a Girl Scout near you! You can also make a donation to the Girl Scouts ( my daughter will deliver any cookies you don’t want to the folks at the CNC)
2 other big anniversaries, thank you to both the Spring Mill Fire Company and Washies Fire Company. Both are celebrating huge milestones this year. Our community is very lucky to have them and the dedicated volunteers.
So, Welcome to 2024. Hope you enjoyed our quick round up or some events that are planned, or being planned or maybe some things that took place in 2023. Thank you for being a part of this community.
