February 27, 2014VFW Re-Opens the Social Hall March 1st (this Saturday)
It’s PARTY TIME at the Conshohocken VFW Post 1074. The Social Club there has been closed for a month for some renovations and the VFW is looking forward to show it off. The VFW is located at 5th and Wells Street.
If that isn’t enough, how about FREE FOOD and FREE MUSIC? The vent starts at 3 in the afternoon and won’t slow down until 1 a.m.
Stop by and see the place, if you’ve been there before you will appreciate the new look, if you’ve never been there, stop in and see the place, see some neighbors, and maybe thank a VET while you are there.
If you aren’t familiar with the VFW….here’s a little history for you:
The Conshohocken Post 1074 Veterans of Foreign Wars was founded on February 2nd, 1933 with sixty-one charter member, all of them veterans of World War One. In 1933 the VFW Post 1074 started in the Mary Wood Parkhouse until an increase in attendance forced them to move to bigger quarters on East Elm Street. In 1943 the Post moved to Hector and Harry Streets where they took up residence in the old Saint Matthew’s Church for the next 33 years until urban redevelopment forced them to purchase their current home at Fifth Avenue and Wells Street in 1976.
For the past 38 years our Veterans have raised money and participated in community events in an effort to better educate our children, and contributing to community needs.
Saturday afternoon is open to anyone, please bring a couple friends. It’s a great chance to see the newly remolded social hall, grab a snack. We could all use a chance to get out of the house after this winter.
If you have a good time, they offer social memberships at a very reasonable per year cost. This is a chance to support a very strong community organization that has contributed to our community for many years.
God Bless Our Veterans, and God Bless America.
