Slow the F Down and Pay Attention

I am writing this today on the heels of the verdict of the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian.

Today at 6^th and Fayette a young mother and her toddler son were hit by a car, they were crossing on a green light. They are both okay but extremely shaken up.

Please, please, please… put down the phone, leave your house a few minutes earlier. Think back to when you were a new driver and follow the rules of the road. In this case the young mom and toddler who was in a stroller had the walk sign and were crossing from east to west, the driver was coming up west 6^th and making a right onto Fayette. He said he didn’t see them due to sun glare.

On a positive note, lots of people helped including the borough crew and the police and ambulance came very quick. The mom is very grateful for them and helping calm her down. (we really hope everyone is okay)
