This is part of our People of Conshohocken series…
We have close to 10,000 people in our borough, add in the residents of West Conshohocken, Plymouth, Whitemarsh and Lafayette Hill and we have a large community. Some of the people that will be featured will be well known in the area, some will have just moved into the area, some will have been here their entire lives. Some of them may be business owners, or people who walk around the area, or maybe work in the area. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Everyone has a story. While we are only going to take their picture and maybe ask a question or two, we want to share these stories with you.

As I was walking out of Deli on 4th today Pastor Brad Lacey was walking in. We exchanged our normal pleasantries…. We talk a little football (don’t hold it against him, but he loves the Patriots) I ask him how he was feeling after a recent health scare and it dawned on me, I should do a People of Conshohocken with him.
I asked Brad a couple of questions…. How long have you been here? Favorite memory and so on. In between each question we would just chat. Brad is one of the most friendly gentleman you will find. I think part of why I am able to have a regular conversation with him, is he’s a regular guy, a regular guy who happens to be a pastor at one of the oldest churches in our community.
Pastor Brad or Reverend Lacey has been here 31 years come Christmas. He surprised me with his answer to his favorite memory or moment here in Conshohocken, it was meeting his wife. As of this Saturday (the 28th) they are celebrating 23 years of marriage. Congratulations…
When I asked about his worst memory, I knew what it was going to be, sadly… it was the day of the First Baptist Church fire. May 10th, 2005. His upbeat demeanor though…. as soon as we took a second to discuss the fire. He told me that God has worked it out since then. Volunteers have worked on the church and even now, they are working on plans to restore 2 more sections of the church. He was and is very thankful for the community and the way they (we have all looked out for the church)
I asked him what else keeps him busy, he’s helping raise his 11 year old grand daughter, he’s President of the Philadelphia Bible Society, he’s been a part of that organization for 17 years now. He hosts a radio show on 1210am, it airs Saturdays at 5 a.m. in addition to all of that he still helps in the community serving on the board of the Colonial Neighborhood Council.
To wrap things up, I asked about his favorite restaurant in the area. I shouldn’t have asked this. He raved about all of them. He told me his favorite dish may be the chicken parm at Pizza Time Saloon and has never had a bad meal at the Great American Pub.
If you’re still with me at this point….. the church does still need some help. If anyone wants to buy a sheet of drywall or a box of screws…. $5.00 to $15.00.. drop it off the Conshohocken First Baptist Church, tell them to buy some drywall or screws with the money. You can always drop it off at Coll’s Custom Framing and we’ll get it to them as well.
Brad, thanks for taking a few minutes with me today, thanks for always being a part of our community. We are very lucky to have you here.
We have some new sponsors of Conshystuff, we can’t this without their support. If you have a second, take a look at our newish website and maybe see some of the people and businesses that make our website possible.
