This is part of our People of Conshohocken series…
We have close to 10,000 people in our borough, add in the residents of West Conshohocken, Plymouth and Whitemarsh and we have a large community. Some of the people that will be featured will be well known in the area, some will have just moved into the area, some will have been here their entire lives. Some of them may be business owners, or people who walk around the area, or maybe work in the area. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Everyone has a story. While we are only going to take their picture and maybe ask a question or two, we want to share these stories with you.

On the 3rd of July we posted a photo to our Facebook page of a young girl selling bracelets on 10th Avenue. You may have saw the photo or you may have bought a bracelet from her on your way to see the fireworks live at Sutcliffe Park.
So, here we are a little more than a week later and I caught up with this young girl and her mom Trish dropping off a check at the Colonial Neighborhood Council. I’m going to be honest, I was so humbled when I saw them on the 4th of July. They were so excited that they sold out of the bracelets. So today when I heard they were dropping off a check for $30.00 I was blown away. At a quarter a piece, she had to sell one hundred and twenty bracelets to donate $30.00 to the Colonial Neighborhood Council. We need more people like this in the world.
I got talking to her mom, I asked why did she want to sell glow bracelets, not set up an Alex’s Lemonade Stand or something. Gwenn responded with the glow bracelets help other kids not be afraid in the dark and kids love them, and she wanted to give the money to the CNC to help other local people. She didn’t stop there, She said she wanted to do this to help make the world a better place. I asked if she had anything else planned, and I really think the world needs more people like this…. she is already planning her next sale, it will be to raise money for the Conshohocken Police “Coffee for Cops” because she wants to be a cop someday and cops love coffee!!!! This is coming from Gwenn, who is 5 years old, almost a teenager.
This could be my favorite part …. She thinks Conshohocken is the Greatest Place on Earth because of all the cool people she meets and fun things to do. And, this is a big And…. she loves spending any money she is not donating at Scoops and Lenny’s Deli.
I don’t know about you, but I hope to buy a bracelet, or a coffee or whatever else Gwenn decides to sell in the future. If she is donating the money to a good cause, great, if she is spending money from a lemonade stand at Scoops or Lenny’s I’m okay with that too.
Thanks Gwenn. I really can’t thank you enough for what you did donating that money to the Colonial Neighborhood Council. There are people in our community who could use a little help sometimes.
Speaking of Lenny’s Deli.. we will have a sponsor for this feature in the near future. All of the details aren’t worked out yet but we have to thank the Neal Eye Group. They are located right across the street from Lenny’s Deli at 828 Fayette Street. Check them out on Facebook or give them a call at 610-828-9701. We will have a link to their website soon. We wanted to thank them for liking what we are doing on Conshystuff.com and supporting us.
