This is part of our People of Conshohocken series…
We have close to 10,000 people in our borough, add in the residents of West Conshohocken, Plymouth and Whitemarsh and we have a large community. Some of the people that will be featured will be well known in the area, some will have just moved into the area, some will have been here their entire lives. Some of them may be business owners, or people who walk around the area, or maybe work in the area. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Everyone has a story. While we are only going to take their picture and maybe ask a question or two, we want to share these stories with you.

Today, a guy walks into my shop with his mom and they are looking for Conshohocken shirts. I point them to the selection of shirts we have here, mostly consisting of I Summer in Conshy and the athletic looking shirts that just say Conshy. They actually tell me they are looking for the Straight Outta Conshy shirts. I was more than happy to tell them I bought mine at Flocco’s. ( I love it by the way, thanks Flocco’s)
Mike Flanagan proceeds to tell me he has a few I Summer in Conshy shirts and goes on to tell me how he was running in the Crown City Classic marathon a couple of years ago out in San Diego, and a local couple spotted him and of course had to ask where he was from and so on…. they recognized the shirt and were visiting from Lower Merion themselves. Of course that started a conversation about where else they have been with their Conshohocken gear and where I have been and the conversations you find yourself in when you show a little community pride.
After talking for a little bit more, I realized that Mike had a very similar childhood to the guy who created the I Summer in Conshy shirts Dave Raimondo. Dave was visiting friends when the conversation turned to where do you summer….. and Dave grew up Summering here in Conshy……
Mike, thanks for stopping by, thanks for talking a little Conshohocken and West Conshohocken with me and your mom, good luck on your future runs. Thanks for being proud of your community and your roots enough to wear it on your runs.
