This is part of our People of Conshohocken series…
We have close to 10,000 people in our borough, add in the residents of West Conshohocken, Plymouth and Whitemarsh and we have a large community. Some of the people that will be featured will be well known in the area, some will have just moved into the area, some will have been here their entire lives. Some of them may be business owners, or people who walk around the area, or maybe work in the area. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Everyone has a story. While we are only going to take their picture and maybe ask a question or two, we want to share these stories with you.

I have known Jackie for so many years now I can’t recall a time when I didn’t know her. Most of my interactions with her came around town, maybe at a fire house event, or the Christmas Tree Lighting. Jackie seems to be everywhere. She has been a volunteer as long as I can remember with Conshohocken Fire Company #2 and at events around the borough. As I was driving around the borough today I noticed her talking to a group of parents outside of Conshohocken Elementary School, and thought…. it’s time to take her picture and include her in the People of Conshohocken series. It was easier said then done. She does not like her picture to be taken! The parents there were cracking up as I tried to sneak in for the picture. Eventually after taking a few bad (very bad pictures) I got an action photo of her doing her job, crossing guard. She is great at what she does. I saw a few children leaving school and giving her a hug as she helped them cross the street. You want to know something…. time flies. Jackie has been there 10 years now.
I had to ask someone as I was leaving, I asked if today was the last day of school since kids were hugging the crossing guard, and they said no, the last day of school is in a week, the kids just love her. I think most of Conshohocken does. Thanks for keeping our kids and homes safe all these years Jackie.
