This is our tenth installment of our People of Conshohocken series…
We have close to 10,000 people in our borough, add in the residents of West Conshohocken, Plymouth and Whitemarsh and we have a large community. Some of the people that will be featured will be well known in the area, some will have just moved into the area, some will have been here their entire lives. Some of them may be business owners, or people who walk around the area, or maybe work in the area. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Everyone has a story. While we are only going to take their picture and maybe ask a question or two, we want to share these stories with you.

I was walking on Fayette Street and I see this guy sitting outside of Sevan the Salon and thought to myself, that has to be the guy who makes the fun signs on the sidewalk outside of Sevan. So I introduce myself and we get talking and sure enough, he’s the guy. A few months ago we posted one of his signs on our Facebook page about “man buns and mullets removed here” there have been some other fun ones. Lately he has been using lyrics from songs on the signs when an artist mentions hair. I’m pretty sure I saw a Kid Rock line on there as well as something by the Strokes. The current sign I’m pretty sure dates back to the 70’s…..
So, moving on from the cool signs we got to talking, I found out that George was a hair stylists who was looking to take it to the next level. To call him a barber doesn’t seem fair, although he does have his barber license, his attention to detail seems to set him apart from the average barber shop. He offers warm towels with essential oils after cuts as music from the Rat Pack plays. I asked what brought him here, and he was happy with the owner of Sevan and thrilled that he could create a space that was previously unused to design it himself and keep the space streamlined. As I was walking away, he made me laugh when he told me his phrase and motto is… he wants his customers to Close the Sale, Get the Job and Get the Girl!
Welcome to Conshohocken George.
