This is part of our People of Conshohocken series…
We have close to 10,000 people in our borough, add in the residents of West Conshohocken, Plymouth, Whitemarsh and Lafayette Hill and we have a large community. Some of the people that will be featured will be well known in the area, some will have just moved into the area, some will have been here their entire lives. Some of them may be business owners, or people who walk around the area, or maybe work in the area. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Everyone has a story. While we are only going to take their picture and maybe ask a question or two, we want to share these stories with you.

Late Saturday afternoon a young lady walked into my shop, she was looking to raise some money for her Relay for Life team. We started talking about Relay for Life and some of the great people on the Relay for Life committee. Some of the committee (sorry if I leave anyone out) Chris Tague, Tammy Tarloski, Michael Myers, Bryna Regan, Kristine Goodwin, Katie Ozeck, and Dawn Wanner.
As we are talking, I hate saying this, but she teared up telling me she has been walking for her mom for 6 years now and recently her friend Sarah has been battling cancer as well and has a family to care for. They walk under the team name Pink Ribbon Racers. You can look them up if you are looking to donate to a person or team. All the money raised goes to a great cause.
Her friend Sarah has a couple children and her husband is in the service and has had to be away, so walking in the Relay for Life is a way to bring together friends and family for a good cause. There are so many other people in similar circumstances that walking in the Relay for Life while is simply a walk around the park, for so many it is a way to keep fighting.
I want to wish Amy and all of the people taking part in this years Relay for Life the best of luck and let’s cross our fingers for nice weather. The event is this coming Saturday at Sutcliffe Park here in Conshohocken. Event kicks off at 10:00.
If you have never been to a Relay for Life, stop by Sutcliffe Park tomorrow anytime after 10 and you are in for a treat. You can feel the positive energy in the park with so many survivors, caregivers friends, family and honestly strangers walking all for a great cause.
Best of luck to everyone involved in the event. Let’s hope for a great day.
Amy, thanks for walking into my shop the other day, best of luck to you, your friend and your family
