LEELAND PARK a walk around

I found myself with about 20 free minutes today so I drove to Leeland Park and took a walk around. It was great. When I played there over the years, there was never a walking path. When I was younger I remember having practice for a little league team I was on, back in the day there was a baseball field. In addition to the baseball field, there was enough room to have a football game on Thanksgiving there, or I guess any day for that matter. Basketball, we would play on those courts when I was a teenager and into my 20’s until the lights went out. It seemed like there was always the chance of a game on a nice night, no matter what time of year. I had a buddy with a garage right around the corner, and when basketball was over we’d hit Eddie’s garage and listen to him and a garage band practice for hours.
So, today when I walked around, I was flooded with memories but so much appreciation for what Whitemarsh Township has done with that park over the years. It looks amazing. The basketball court looks great, back in the day I seem to remember more backboards and rims so more games could be happening. I guess with less kids in the area it’s not as needed. I remember a giant fence along East 12th Ave, but without the baseball field there, it probably isn’t needed. It was a real nice view when I walked around the walking path.
On my second lap around, I broke out my cell phone and snapped a few pictures. It looks like a nice playground if you have kids, there is a bathroom facility in the center of the park. If you want to check it out, it’s between North Lane and East 12th Ave.
Here are the pictures I took today on my walk around LEELAND PARK. Enjoy.
