It Really is Something Special!!
By Jackie Coll
We want to take a minute to welcome all of our new readers and viewers to the site. Conshystuff.com both Facebook and website are products of Coll’s Custom Framing committed to delivering to our readers the positive side of Conshohocken and West Conshohocken as well as parts of Plymouth and Whitemarsh, and the positive groups and events that take place in our community. We say “our community” because if you live here, or participate in one or more of the many events in these two boroughs, then it truly is your community, and together our community and we want to say welcome.
Our Facebook is an interactive site bringing you information on the Conshohocken Free Library, Fellowship House, Colonial Neighborhood Council, which is our community pantry and store and more. When we get news and or information pertaining to our youth leagues, Plymouth Whitemarsh High and other local schools, fundraisers and all positive information pertaining to our community we post it!
Have you checked out the special features on the Conshystuff.com website? It’s worth clicking onto the site for our features, features you’ll only see here. “Talking Music,” is a regular column written by Jack Coll. Jack has been around the music scene for nearly five decades and manages to write about the lesser known side of the music industry. Once in a while he does music trivia, or elaborates on certain lyrics, and in many cases perhaps you were thinking the same thing. It’s a lot of fun and worth checking out. If you missed any of the columns you can go back on the site and bring these columns up!
Jack has also written many columns pertaining to the history of Conshohocken and beyond. There’s a lot to be learned from the history columns and it’s always fun viewing the vintage photographs posted with many of these stories.
The Conshystuff.com Hall of Fame including the “Sports Hall of Fame,” “Residents Hall of Fame,” “Conshohocken Events Hall of Fame,” that has included celebrations big and small like the Leon Russell performance and the borough’s “Sesquicentennial Celebration,” it’s all in the “Events Hall of Fame.” Also included in the Hall of Fame section of the site are the “Sports Teams Hall of Fame,” and the “Conshohocken Business Hall of Fame.” Each of the names, teams, businesses and organizations mentioned in the Hall of Fame section are well deserved, and certainly worth checking out.
We have great ties in our community, Jack has served on multiple boards in the community and Brian is currently the President of the Library as well as on the board of the Colonial Neighborhood Council. In fact right now Conshystuff.com is in the middle of a food drive that goes directly onto the shelf at the CNC and the food stays in our community.
Brian writes on current events around the area and takes a ton of photos at events or just around town that we share through the website or directly on our Facebook page. We try to bring to light organizations that are raising funds or just helping in the community. Conshohocken and its close neighbors have the best people, wonderful youth organizations, many of our residents volunteer with one group or another. We try to be there to help spread the word about good projects and groups.
Brian Coll often writes articles and information pertaining to the Archbishop Kennedy High School, where he graduated in 1992 the second to last graduating class. Often the Kennedy articles are very enjoyable and the School’s photos always bring back some great memories from years gone by.
Perhaps the most successful link we’ve enjoyed is the Real Estate link, Brian has a special relationship with a number of Conshohocken realtors who have passed on house listings sometimes long before they are posted to the general public. Brian also keeps up with the contractors and from time to time reports on the progress of particular projects.
Today we are proud to announce that Coll’s Custom Framing in conjunction with the Conshohocken Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1074 will be launching a joint site pertaining to our community’s military service men and women. The site currently under construction and will be up and running by Veterans Day and will include information and history on World War One, World War Two, Korean and Vietnam Wars and all the wars and battles this Country has been involved in since the late 1970’s.
We’re also looking for your help, if you have had a loved one serve in the military, husband, wife, son, daughter, friend or relative, we would like a head shot with information as to where they live, when they served, high school and some other information to be permanently posted on the site. We will be accepting local military residents only. Stay posted for more information about this site.
The military site will keep our friends on our site up-dated on all the happenings of the VFW Post 1074, this isn’t your grandfathers VFW Post anymore. Renovations have been made at the post home located at Fifth Avenue and Wells Street, and the Post leaders have created many new positive events, stay tuned for more on this site. In fact we just purchased the new site …. www.conshystuffvets.com.
Finally we want to thank our sponsors who have helped us grow!! The businesses you see along the sides of our featured articles are quality organizations, providing honest services at a great price point. The businesses listed represent hard working individuals most of whom like us have chosen to live and work in our community, we welcome them into our Conshohocken family.
