Exit4 Escape Room for the Win! Well, Maybe we didn’t get out…

This weekend my son wanted to do something fun for his birthday. He wanted a few friends together and maybe some pizza… and something fun…. he decided to do an escape room. We had driven past Exit4 Escape room in the rear of Plymouth Square Shopping Center a few times and he thought that would be fun.
Next up was the secret invites to help the superhero in need (text messages to a few parents of his friends) apologies … he wanted something very small.
We gathered at Exit4 a few minutes before we were set to be locked into a room…. only we weren’t locked in. Derrick who is the manager there at Exit4 walked us into the room and described the process. Exit4 doesn’t actually lock you in, which was great for me as I needed to run to the bathroom while “locked” in the room. We did “the Loan Wolf” and loved it. You look for clues throughout the room and work together to escape…. which we did not actually do… In my defense… I have none. Well, in my defense… I was in the room with a few 10 year olds. And, they were all over the place! It wasn’t a big room, but it was like trying to herd cats….
I really don’t want to give anything away. I was allowed to have my phone in the room, and we used the flashlight function a few times. It is very unique where even if you try to use your phone to help you, it won’t, besides maybe the flashlight…
We got close to escaping the room, but didn’t. The kids all had fun, as did I. In another room, there was a group who solved one of the other fun themes. I did not hear them at all until we all saw each other in the hallway. While the other group was getting their photo taken with the Winners sign, our group was focused on walking up to Tony Roni’s for a couple slices of pizza. They had a few tables in the back and our group loved it. We also had an ice cream cake from our friends at the Collegeville Italian Bakery. Thank you Steve and family there!

I had got chatting with Derrick the manager there and found there’s a great local connection to the owners. Some of you may know Jane Flanagan and Tina Licwinko are related to the owners Anne Lindeman and family. I had a follow up conversation with Anne and I wanted to share a little bit of it with you here:
Our group had a blast. How long have you been open here in Conshohocken?
We opened our Conshohocken location back in May. We actually started 10 years ago with our first location in New Jersey, and today we have 17 locations nationwide. During that time, we’ve welcomed thousands of guests for birthdays, family outings, date nights, corporate team building events, school groups, and celebrations of all kinds. It’s been amazing to watch escape rooms grow in popularity, and we’re grateful to continue creating memorable experiences for our guests.
Our group was a bunch of 10-year-olds. What is the normal group size and ages?
We welcome a wide variety of groups. Most of our rooms accommodate 2–10 players, and we regularly host everyone from families with children as young as 8 or 9 (with an adult) to teens, adults, and even grandparents. We also encourage bringing the whole family, and children under 6 are welcome at no charge. Our rooms are safe and secure for little ones, making us a great option for family outings. We also host larger groups by splitting them across multiple rooms, making us a great option for birthday parties, youth groups, sports teams, and corporate events.
I noticed something which I thought was unique… even though our group wasn’t the largest in size, it was still a private group of just us. Is that always the case?
Yes! Every booking at Exit 4 Escape Rooms is private. Whether you have two players or ten, you’ll never be paired with strangers. We believe it creates a much better experience where friends, family, or coworkers can enjoy the adventure together.
This seems like it would be a good small company team building activity. Are you seeing that?
Absolutely. Team building has become one of our fastest-growing event categories. Escape rooms naturally encourage communication, problem-solving, leadership, and collaboration in a fun, low-pressure environment. We host everyone from small local businesses to large corporate groups, and many companies make it an annual tradition. We can accommodate up to 40 players at once, making it easy for teams of various sizes to participate together.
Anything else we should know?
One thing we’re really excited about is our growing lineup of special events. In addition to our escape room experiences, we’re hosting unique events throughout the year, including speed dating nights, themed game nights, book club gatherings, networking events, and other community-focused experiences. We love finding new ways to bring people together beyond the traditional escape room experience, so it’s worth checking our website and social media to see what’s coming up next.
ThanK YOU!
