by Brian Coll
The folks at St. Marks are doing a few things for the day of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Here are a few ways you can help, not mentioned is reaching out to the church and helping in person.
MLK Day of Service
We would love your help with these four MLK Day of Service Projects. Everything can be dropped off at St. Marks (508 Harry Street, Conshohocken, PA) in the Delivery Entrance (gray door on Harry Street toward the back of the church) by January 22.
1) Birthday Bags: To benefit families in need served by Colonial Neighborhood Council. Please include: cake mix, frosting, birthday candles, decorations, birthday napkins and plates, activity/coloring book and crayons, birthday card… all in a large gift bag.
2) Personal Care Items for Foster Teens: Distributed to Being Beautiful Foundation, Montgomery County. These bags are geared toward teen girls in foster care. Please include: Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, hair brush, lotion, nail polish, mascara, chapstick/lip gloss.
3) Hygiene Kits for Refugee Women: Distributed to Bethany Christian Services. In a large ziplock bag, please include: small pack of tissues, lotion, bar of soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, hair ties.
4) SPCA Donations: Distributed to SPCA of Montgomery County. Canned cat (especially kitten) and dog food for our furry friends.
(Thank you to St. John Lutheran Church for the awesome ideas!)
Side note, if you can’t help, with these or any other organized event, you can honor Martin Luther King Jr by picking up trash in our community any day, you can be a good neighbor, you can learn more about our community.
