Conshystuff Food Drive – Here’s How to Help

I felt damn good walking on Fayette Street earlier today. I was almost bouncing around Conshohocken, and why wouldn’t I be? It was a perfect day, the Phillies are starting the World Series against the Astros later tonight (sorry for any mixed times here, I’m writing this a bit after midnight) The Eagles are undefeated, Flyers are somehow in first place in their division, the Sixers are about to kick it into high gear and the Philadelphia Union are playing in the MLS cup conference finals this Sunday (they should have won last year but a crappy covid situation kept them out). I walked down to Flocco’s to check out some new gear to show off my fandom.. I may have put my hands on a light pole to see if we were greasing them out here in the burbs. I’m pretty sure I nodded to a few random strangers that had on Phillies gear. It really was a perfect day. And then…
I walked back into my shop as someone was dropping off some canned goods for our yearly Conshystuff Food Drive.
Sorry to be Debbie Downer here, but even with all the great things happening in our extended area and the perfect day outside, people are still hungry. People still need our help. And that’s where we turn to you.
Edit to add the Amazon Wishlist : https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2ZO3M62046J2B?ref_=wl_share&fbclid=IwAR1fhutvYc9K6BNGU-UMPK4BDejdelmR2JhbhQFVOxJIA7Bkut1TqzW6eL4
If you are new to the area or simply never heard of this before, our community comes together, (it seems we always come together) and helps our neighbors in need. So, if you’re reading this and want to help – it is simple. Next time you are shopping, please throw an extra peanut butter or chunky type soup in your cart. Stop by the Colonial Neighborhood Council at 107 East 4th Ave and help out a neighbor. Coll’s Custom Framing is also a drop off point.
Work in an office? Want to start your own office wide food drive, please do. We can even weigh your donations, that way you can shoot for a new goal year after year.
This whole thing comes down to PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE. We’re very grateful for all of you who have helped in the past, we look forward to meeting some new people either dropping off or maybe at the next event that helps out. The Saint Philip Neri Fill a Bus is a wonderful way to drop some canned goods off if you are busy during the week. This cool event takes place on Sunday November 6th.
We just had the Kick Off Party with the Hussey family. I can never say enough great things about the entire Hussey family. On a misty afternoon, they set up tents, bought a ton of food, literally like 2,000 pounds for the food drive and then went and fed everyone who stopped by with food from the folks at Pepperoncini. Jp Hussey, his wife Rachel, his brothers Chris and Nick, his parents Joe and Michelle. They all come together to create this wonderful event and honestly, they talk the talk and then walk the walk. When Covid came along, they took it upon themselves to feed the community through a grassroots program outside their door on Fayette Street. They simply had a no questions asked table or two set up multiple times a week. Some prepared meals from chefs, some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches all made with love. And I can tell you, my sister and I along with my parents, truly love the Hussey family.
At the start of this, I told you how good I felt today. I know the Phillies are going to give our community and the city of Philadelphia and all of Pennsylvania an incredible week of baseball that will end in someone checking to see if the light posts were actually greased or not. While you’re out shopping for some game time snacks, think of those in our community who could use a little help. Go Phillies, Fly Eagles Fly, Sons of Ben, we’re with you Flyers and Sixers it’s a long season. Good luck. Thank you for reading, thank you for considering helping out. (if you need help, give us a buzz, we can get you in touch with the right people)
