I’m not sure of when I first met Ray, but I do remember when I realized the impact he had on me. Ray and his wife Maryann are unsung heroes in Conshohocken and our community. I’m sure I had seen them in passing over the years, but it wasn’t until I started spending more time at the Colonial Neighborhood Council that I really took notice of them. When I would drop off canned goods and other food, I normally stay out of peoples way. There are folks who shop there, there are volunteers that come and go through the day while doing meals on wheels routes and then there are Ray and Maryann… they would make runs to the local grocery stores and bring back truck loads of bread and baked goods. They never wanted any credit or recognition. They were happy to help the community. The more we got to know each other, I looked forward to our little chats as we passed each other at the Colonial Neighborhood Council. Ray was reserved, but quick witted. I’m going to miss his sense of humor and caring nature.
To Maryann and his girls, I’m thinking of you. I was lucky enough to know Ray a little bit. I’m thankful to have known him.
