Christmas Tree Lighting – November 29th – Conshohocken Ambucs

Does anyone remember way back in 1990 when the Conshohocken Ambucs had the thought of putting together a Christmas Tree Lighting with a special appearance by Santa Claus himself? Well we do, and we are very thankful the tradition continues. Times have changed and so has the location, last year from the traditional home at former Borough Hall at 8th and Fayette to the Mary Wood Parkhouse. This year show up around 5:45, the address is 120 East 5th Ave.
Watch the Christmas Lights turn on.
Take pictures with Santa.
Free Refreshments.
Music and holiday trivia for the little ones.
Christmas Story Reading with the Mayor.
There are the details about the event…. here is a little opinion about the event:
I loved it at old borough hall, I thought there was something special about Santa going up the Washies Ladder truck to high up in Borough Hall and magically the lights on the giant Christmas Tree went on. While that part isn’t taking place at the Mary Wood Parkhouse, the Parkhouse has underwent a transformation in the past few years and it was really nice to have it on display for the public last year.
I understand the HOW Group who bought the former borough hall offered to have the event back at that location now that they have the building up and running and it is absolutely STUNNING! If you are thinking about hosting an event consider using that space, call the HOW Group and check it out.
I think having this event at the Mary Wood Parkhouse makes sense, and if it ever ended up back at the HOW Group that is also an ideal space.
Since I am giving an opinion…. I haven’t been a fan of the Halloween parade at Mary Wood Park / Parkhouse…. as someone who has walked with kids in both parade locations if you will, Fayette Street between the firehouses seemed a little more ideal. People came out of stores and houses along Fayette to wave to the kids walking, there was more space for mini floats, the people walking on the sidewalk at the park felt too tightly confined. Like I said, my opinion… maybe I’m alone in that thought. I even enjoyed hitting the Great American Pub or the Boathouse on the walk back up the street after the parade in years past.
If you haven’t been to the Mary Wood Parkhouse for either event, please check it out at the Christmas Tree Lighting. Let us know what you think about one of the more unique properties in the borough.
