A number of years ago I met a young man named Billy Kopf. Billy grew up here in Conshohocken and you may have seen him working to improve one of your neighbors’ yards over the years. He started a landscaping company at a young age and has stuck with it. Over the years he has found his passion in trees. I recently got the chance to chat with him and asked him for a few pointers.
Here’s what Bill of BK Tree and Landscape wanted to pass along to me and all of you:
An easy springtime starts with a strategic autumn. Check out this message from BK Tree and Landscape with some tips to improve your property’s appearance next spring, with some work this fall
It is hard to believe that October is already here! Now is a great time to start preparing your trees, and landscape for winter. There are several benefits to doing work to your trees, plants and overall landscape in fall and by doing so you can reduce the work you will need to do in spring, and enhance the growth and appearance of your property.
Pruning Trees and removing dead or damaged trees
- Pruning your trees in fall is generally less stressful on them as they head into dormancy, can sometimes prevent insect or disease exposure and gives them a better chance to heal before the upcoming growing season. Removing dead trees eliminates potential hazards when combined with heavy winds, rains, snow or ice.
Planting trees
- Now is a great time to get a new tree for your streetline, front yard or backyard! With cooler weather, new trees are easier to establish in your existing landscape. Proper planting choice of specimen is important to ensure a long healthy life on your investment. Get help from a pro when choosing or installing your new tree
Removing leaves
- By removing leaves from your lawn or property, you can enhance the quality of your lawn by allowing more light and air exposure rather than having a layer of leaves shading out your grass
Planning the future of your yard
- Do research or speak with a professional to get ideas on how to improve your yard, and make a plan with incremental steps that make sense in that sequence. Conshohocken needs more trees in parks, streetlines and backyards and it is the responsibility of the people of Conshohocken to see that through
