Shop, Eat & Treat This Saturday

I’ve been asked more than once, what is this Shop, Eat & Treat all about…. I’ve also been asked is this instead of trick or treating on Halloween? So, this isn’t meant to take the place of trick or treating on the 31st. Halloween is Halloween and you can go trick or treating all you want! What Shop, Eat & Treat means to you might be different than what it means to me. That is because I have two kids and we’re going to get them dressed up and wander into Conshohocken businesses on the 28th and maybe get a treat for my little ones. If I was still a 20 something, my afternoon might look a little different, maybe I would wander into a place like The Artist’s Loft and see the amazing collection of items from local artists they have there. Maybe I’d explore Sanctuary Blu and find out they have some cool stuff and then pop into Thirteen Circles and chat with the folks there while checking out their homemade candles. If I was a young lady I’d have to grab some girlfriends and start my day at Bruch and then shop at XTRA Boutique. If you’re a sports fan, check out Flocco’s then head to the Boathouse or the Pub to see Penn State play at noon. So, Shop, Eat & Treat might be different for you than it is for me. What I do know, is that a bagel at Our Daily Bagel or some pancakes at Izenberg’s is a good way to start the day.
Discover Conshohocken recently held the Fall into Conshy event and it was an incredible day to wander Fayette Street. For this event, Shop, Eat & Treat they are encouraging you to walk into the brick and mortar places we have here. Maybe it’s been awhile since you went into Flocco’s. Maybe you are looking for a new place to get your hair cut, pop into a salon and see what they have to offer. I recently visited New Hope and just took some time to walk into the various stores, and tried an eatery that had outdoor dining. It was so nice to just explore a little town and see what the shops had to offer. I guess that is what Shop, Eat & Treat is, let’s explore our own little borough. If you have kids, please walk them around for some early trick or treating. If you are new to the area, this is a great day to say hi to some folks and check out a shop or a restaurant.
I’ll leave you with this, when I open up the program book to PW High School Football, or walk around Sutcliffe Park and see the sponsors at the baseball fields, it’s not the big box stores or the internet kings and queens, it’s the mom and pop stores. It’s the local restaurants, our hometown folks who operate their own businesses. Today is a great day to just check them out.
