Great Old Photo on the Matsonford Bridge
4/22/2021
We love this old photo taken on the Matsonford Bridge between West Conshohocken and Conshohocken. We aren’t entirely sure of the year, maybe one of our readers will see themselves and tell us what year.
We need to have a little fun with this…. we could be wrong, but this looks like a school field trip or something. It seems more and more, people will say kids are different these days…. I am not sure it’s the kids, I think society has changed and parents have changed. My kids would jump at the chance for a field trip across the bridge… I’m not sure too many parents would sign that permission slip though. I know a few years back the Conshohocken Elementary School Halloween Parade route changed because a parent got upset that her child walked on Fayette Street with police and firetruck escorts… look at this photo, kids are walking on the old bridge without a walking lane, no concrete barriers… just old school sidewalk right on the bridge.
In all seriousness, take a look at old Conshohocken in the background. The old stores right on the bridge, the old Borough of Conshohocken sign. Washies firehouse tower to the left, Saint Matthews steeple high on the right. We love sharing these with you.
We’re still going through a strange year, let’s keep supporting our local businesses and restaurants. Thank you.
