Tonight borough council of Conshohocken is discussing the sewer plant.

If this is the first time you are hearing about this, I am sorry for not doing this sooner, life has a way of getting in the way…
When other municipalities sell their sewer system or plant, there is normally a cash windfall to the city/town/borough, however it comes with an eventual price to the consumer (the residents) In some cases there is a rate freeze after a sale, once the freeze is over, expect your sewer rates to go up, by a lot. Remember whoever is paying millions of dollars for the sewer system, eventually wants to make a profit. These are for profit companies or utilities looking to buy what is a controlled asset of the borough and its authority.
Here is a recent article as another area goes through the process of a sewer system sale.
I hope the borough council looks out for the people and our future rates.
As far as personnel at the sewer plant, we have quality people there. Local, they care about our community. We have a sewer board made up of local people, and while I don’t always agree with them or their policies, I would rather have them represent us as a community than a large utility company.
Maybe your opinion is different than mine and you want the borough to sell. You can call and tell borough council your opinion. If you, like me think the sewer system is in better hands currently, maybe let borough council know that as well.
You can view the meeting here, or use one of the phone numbers listed to call in and voice your opinion.
