Our friend Sharon Ellam passed away this week. Our hearts broke for her husband John, daughters Stacy and Johanna as well as family members Fran and Nancy. I could tell you how she loved the Phillies, what players she loved, how we would often pass each other at Phillies games over the years or visits she took to spring training. Her official obituary listed below goes into some of that. We could talk about her ties to Saint Mary’s (where our photo was taken as she proudly sung with the choir) her obituary also talks about that. What her obituary doesn’t tell you is how full of life she was, how she loved this community, how good it was having her as a friend. I speak for my family when I say, we loved spending time with her and her family at community events or passing each other on the streets of Conshohocken. If you don’t know the Ellam family of Conshohocken, I can tell you, we are lucky they are here. The Ellam’s have always been wonderful people, devoted to our community and you just don’t find a better group of people.

Obituary for Sharon Marie Ellam

Sharon Marie (Psonak) Ellam, age 66 of Conshohocken, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021. She was born in Conshohocken on December 2, 1954. She was the daughter of the late John and Irene (Olszta) Psonak. Sharon was the beloved wife of John L. Ellam for over 45 years.

Sharon was raised in Conshohocken on West 10th Avenue attending St. Mary Grade School and graduating Archbishop Kennedy High School Class of 1972. She went onto study nursing at Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing, where she was a Class of 1975 graduate. She was employed as a pediatric nurse at Montgomery Hospital for many years as well as the Pediatric Associates of Plymouth. She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan; taking many trips to spring training in Clearwater, FL, Phillies cruises, and was a season ticket holder for over 15 seasons. She was a life parishioner of St. Mary Parish in Conshohocken where she was President of the Home and School Association, a Lunch Mother, Christmas Bazaar Volunteer, member of the church choir, and served in countless other capacities through the years. Above all else, Sharon cherished being a loving wife, amazing mother and was most proud of being a grandmother. She loved all things to do with her family.

Beside her husband John, she is survived by her 2 daughters, Stacy M. Ellam (Diana) of Conshohocken and Johanna L. Herman (Jonathan) of Conshohocken and her granddaughter, Francesca. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Frances Ellam and sister-in-law, Nancy DeVitis, by her nieces and nephews, and many members of extended family and dear friends.

Relatives and friends may pay respects on Sunday, January 10th from 3-5PM (Casual dress; wear your Phillies gear) or on Monday morning, January 11th from 8:30-9:50AM at the William A. Moore Funeral Home, 708 Fayette St., Conshohocken. Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10:30AM in St. Philip Neri RC Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA. Internment, George Washington Memorial Park in Plymouth Meeting. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Colonial Neighborhood Council at 107 E 4th Ave, Conshohocken, St Joseph Villa in Flourtown at www.stjosephvilla.org/donate/ or 215-836-4179 or a charity of your choice.
