This is part of our People of Conshohocken series…
We have close to 10,000 people in our borough, add in the residents of West Conshohocken, Plymouth and Whitemarsh and we have a large community. Some of the people that will be featured will be well known in the area, some will have just moved into the area, some will have been here their entire lives. Some of them may be business owners, or people who walk around the area, or maybe work in the area. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Everyone has a story. While we are only going to take their picture and maybe ask a question or two, we want to share these stories with you.

I simply know him as the Pickleman. I have seen his pickle van all over for years now. Mostly on Friday afternoons and evenings in our area. Although he serves Montco and Delco and even a bit of Philly…. If you get done work a little early on a Friday and hit up a local watering hole you may know the Pickleman as well. He also provides peppers and such to the local deli’s.
Here is what I didn’t know, his name is Mark Mittin and he has been doing this for about 25 years now. WOW, hard to believe. If you need pickles or some other products that he sells send him an e-mail at [email protected]
I broke out my camera and took his photo and as we are chatting I was reminded of seeing a guy named the Pickleman about 20 years ago doing stand up comedy at a little bar in Norristown called DiRenzo’s. I kind of asked thinking it wouldn’t have been him…. but it was. I even asked about a little skit he did and sure enough he got a laugh and had a hard time believing I remembered it. Looking back it probably wasn’t that funny, but I remember it had something to do with the Flyers and going through the roster and if so and so can’t do it…. Coffey Can, and he wore a coffee can as a hat.
Anyway, we decided to make Mark (The Pickleman) our person of Conshohocken.
