Then and Now, Plymouth Square - Cinema
It’s funny how you remember certain things from your childhood and other things you forget. I remember the movie theater at Plymouth Square and the old bowling alley. I am pretty sure the movie theater closed long before the bowling alley. I’m pretty sure I bowled there in the early 90’s but I can’t seem to remember the last movie I saw at Plymouth Square. My dad Jack found an old photo that he had taken of the movie theater when it was showing Coal Miner’s Daughter starring Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn, the movie also starred Tommy Lee Jones and a guy from one of my favorite bands of all time Levon Helm of the Band. I actually got to see the Band when I was far too young to see anyone in concert, but that’s another story.
Here is the old photo. I actually love this photo, not because it is the best photo of the old movie theater, but it was most likely taken with my dads first camera. I’m glad he picked up that camera all those years ago, it has lead to this website as well as our frame shop. We love photos, we love photos we take, we love photos other people take. If you have some old photos you’d like to share stop by and see us, we are always looking for new photos for our website as well as books we are working on about our community.
