Party! For the Colonial Neighborhood Council and the Food Drive

Party! For the Colonial Neighborhood Council and the Food Drive

Our friend J.P. Hussey calls the Conshystuff food drive a “grass roots” food drive.  Here is a little history on it…..  6 years ago on one October day I walked into the Colonial Neighborhood Council and saw the shelves were bare, really bare. In fact,  I thought they were cleaning the place and that was the reason there was no food on the shelves. I took a couple of pictures and posted on Facebook that we would start to collect food at my store, Coll’s Custom Framing for the Colonial Neighborhood Council. We then reached out to a few other local businesses and asked if they would mind putting a box out to collect food and a few agreed. Prime Intensity Training, ‘feine, Conshohocken Physical Therapy, Coldwell Banker were some of the first places to jump in and all of them are still collecting for this amazing cause and we can’t thank them enough.

As the food drive was progressing that first year, a young man came into the store with some food and an idea. He thought maybe a party would help. He could host it in the parking lot of where his company was located and we could really have a good time, music, food, drinks… his name is J.P. Hussey.  The first couple years, he hosted an event in his mortgage company’s parking lot in November at the end of the food drive and it was a great way to finish the month and a half of collecting food.  We learned 2 things…   1. – it got a little cold in November and 2. we could use the food as fast as we can get it. J.P had some big donations come in for the party in November.

So our host, J.P. Hussey and friends now have a KICK OFF PARTY to start the Conshystuff Food Drive with a BANG!!!! So, this Wednesday (October 17th) at the Colonial Neighborhood Council located at 107 East 4th Ave (around back), we are having a KICK OFF PARTY.  Bryn Mawr Trust Bank is bringing their ice cream truck and handing out ice cream to everyone. We’re going to have some raffle items and door prizes.

We could really use peanut butter and jelly, tuna, canned meats, instant meals, chunky type soups, canned fruits & vegetables and more.

We hope you will stop by on Wednesday!

The Colonial Neighborhood Council supports over 225 families in Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Lafayette Hill, Plymouth, Whitemarsh & Bridgeport.  There are limitations on the amount of food families can take.  The CNC relies on donations.  Your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated.

Can’t get to the party, here are places collecting food for the CNC and the Conshystuff.com Food Drive.
