KONA Ice Truck - How Cool is This?
KONA Ice Truck – How Cool is This?
by Brian Coll
Like many of you, I have seen the KONA Ice Truck around our community…. at the Conshy fireworks, Plymouth summer camps, movies in the park in Whitemarsh and so on. My daughter went to camp this summer at a local school and once a week the Kona truck was there to cool them down. I got lucky twice in the past week and was able to have one with my daughter. They were good!
As I was standing off to the side, the young man operating the truck asked if I wanted to check the truck out as I was peaking in, I declined, but after a minute I asked if I could take him up on the offer. It was a very cool truck in more ways than one. Once I got past the minor brain freeze I asked what kind of events they could do and he was more than happy to speak about birthday parties, of course summer camps and daycares. Graduations, pool parties, celebrations some corporate events and so on.
I went back out and continued the conversation, I was talking to Tyler Green and it is a family owned and operated business. They have been doing it for a few years now, and on a fundraising basis I was really shocked at what the company has been able to do in a short period of time… they have given back or donated over $35 million dollars as a company and that number is always going up. If you see them at a township event or something along those lines, chances are they are giving back to the community.
As for the product itself, it is kind of cool to create your own flavor or add a little more, or take it a little easy on the flavor. I’m looking forward to my next Kona ice, and I’m hoping Tyler is working, because he was a really nice guy and you can tell he loves what he does. Thanks for letting me peak in the truck the other day and best of luck to you and your family with the business, thanks for being a part of our community.
