Archbishop Kennedy & Saint Matthews High School All Class Reunion

Archbishop Kennedy & Saint Matthews High School All Class Reunion

by Brian Coll

If you’ve read this website at all over the past 5 years you know I love Archbishop Kennedy. I miss it dearly and I would have loved to have seen my children go there when the time comes but of course that will not happen. What can happen is I can walk my children through my old high school on May 19th of this year. I can show them the old lockers, I can let them run down the old hallways, I can show them the old cafeteria (even though it looks a little different). I can brag about walking the senior stairs, I can show them where the snack machines used to be. I’m sure I will mention old friends and of course I will point out a window and say, “do you see those houses? That’s where I practiced football”

Now, here comes the cool part…..after I walk my family through the old school (now home to Antioch Church) I’m going to drop them off and go to the “A” Field where the football games were played and enjoy hanging out with old classmates. Getting to say hi to a few people I knew in other classes. Maybe talk to an old teacher or two. I’m sure I will hear about someone else’s gridiron glory from a different era.

Recently I got the chance to meet up with a few members of this all class reunion committee and there was so much energy in the room. We even took a ride to the “A” Field to look it over and start planning the event in our heads. We are so very thankful to the Borough of Conshohocken for allowing us to use the “A” Field for this event.

There is something special going to happen in conjunction with this All Class Reunion: The last graduating class of 1993 and all of the students that were in the school at the time buried a TIME CAPSULE, the TIME CAPSULE and the items in it will be on display at the school that day. I can not wait to see what is in there after all these years. I talked to Bill Robinson the class of 1993 President and he is very excited for this. He is really hoping to have a large gathering of people who were at Kennedy when it closed its doors.

The committee doesn’t have all of the details yet, but here is what can be shared with friends and family who went to Kennedy:

Date: May 19th, it’s a Saturday.

Where: Archbishop Kennedy (now home to Antioch Church, we can’t thank them enough for allowing us to use the facility for the day) and The “A” Field (We can’t thank the Borough of Conshohocken enough for use of the “A” Field.

Time: This isn’t concrete, but the open house at the old school will be in the afternoon and the gathering at the “A” Field will be later in the afternoon and evening.

Cost: Is still being worked on, there are a number of variables.

Check back here and our Facebook page for more details as they become available. The committee is excited, we hope you are too. Please share with your friends and family that went to Kennedy or Saint Matthews High School.
